Free Bicycle Parking at Farmers Market Oct. 3

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – September 29, 2009 – The City of Cedar Rapids Bicycle Advisory Committee and Bicycle Ambassadors will staff a free bicycle corral (bicycle parking) and information booth at the Farmers Market on Saturday October 3, 2009. The bicycle corral will be located in Greene Square Park, north of the trail, between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue SE, from 7:30 a.m. until noon. The City of Cedar Rapids Transit Department is planning to provide a city bus with a bike rack, for demonstration of loading and unloading a bike on the bus. It will be located near the bicycle corral.

The Farmers Market will be held along 3rd and 4th Avenues SE, 2nd and 3rd Streets SE, and in Greene Square Park. The event is free and open to the public. Entertainment includes several main stage performances, Library Story Time, and street entertainment from Mark Brown and Junk Funk. The cooking demonstration will be the return of the Iron Chef Competition.
