Unexpected sights on the Cedar Valley Nature Trail

We’re used to seeing lots of birds, some squirrels, an occasional snake or two, and now and then some deer along the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.

Quick report here on a couple of unexpected sights this afternoon after shutting down the home office for a little early November exercise on the bicycle:

  • An elderly gentleman rising up from his electric scooter to take a nature break and pee on the wall outside the men’s room at the trailhead on Boyson Road in Hiawatha, giving graphic new meaning to the term “nature trail.” A sure sign that the restrooms are closed until spring.
  • A woman driving her car northbound on the trail, then turning right onto Boyson Road. I can’t say for sure, but my guess is she couldn’t find her way out of the parking lot. Wish I’d had my camera for that one.

Two reminders that we’re just as much a part of nature as the other wildlife we usually see along the way.

Pedal on.

Very good Bernie — I am jealous you are riding outside — as I have moved indoors to spinning classes, not near as much fun, nor do I get the chance to see the ‘wild’ life. I love the little things in life that make us smile.

both these stories serve to remind me to take my camera along when I ride. Maybe I can capture some entertaining behavior like you did!
