C.R. orders bike racks for city buses

Cedar Rapids has taken a step toward becoming “bicycle friendly.”

After a delay because of record flooding in June, the city has ordered 27 bike racks to mount on city buses. Friend Judy Lehman, city purchasing manager, says a purchase order for the racks was issued Tuesday.

Sportworks Northwest of Woodinville, WA, will supply the racks at a cost of about $425 each and is expected to deliver them in two or three weeks.

Why put bike racks on buses? Click here for the company’s take on that.

My short answer:

Take the bus to work, pedal home!

Pedal on.
