C.R. orders bike racks for city buses

Cedar Rapids has taken a step toward becoming “bicycle friendly.”

After a delay because of record flooding in June, the city has ordered 27 bike racks to mount on city buses. Friend Judy Lehman, city purchasing manager, says a purchase order for the racks was issued Tuesday.

Sportworks Northwest of Woodinville, WA, will supply the racks at a cost of about $425 each and is expected to deliver them in two or three weeks.

    Ive seen this kind of thing in San Diego. Maybe there are other cities that offer racks on public transit. a3
